I read Dead Ends by Erin Jade Lange, a 326 page long novel about a kid named dane who lives in a city area where there are lots of robberies, thefts, gangs, and crimes. One day a kid with down syndrome starts walking to school with Dane. Dane doesn’t really know what to do, so he lets Billy walk with him. One day, Billy finds an atlas with clues in it to find his dad, who ran away a long time ago. I thought that the author did a really good job making the story suspenseful and interesting. For example in this scene, Dane doesn’t have to go to detention if he protects and walks to school with billy. “You don’t have to serve detention here at school. you walk billy home tonight instead.” I’d rather be in detention. “Like getting out of prison for good behavior,” I said. “More like parole.” The warden smiled. “Step out of line, and you go right back in.”I narrowed my eyes. “what else do i have to do?”

“Anything Billy needs.”
