Lauren’s Letter Essay #12 “The Outsiders”

I read the book the outsiders it was a 180 paged, action filled book. I chose this book because when I read the back of the book it sounded really interesting. This book was about two gangs the greasers and the soc’s (the socials). some of the greasers must accept the consequences of there violent lives, while others meet some tragic endings. This is the beginning seen on page 1-2 the seen is about pony boy walking home from the movies “When I stepped out into the bright sunlight from the darkness of the movie house, I only had two things on my mind: Paul Newman and a long ride home. I was whishing I looked like Paul Newman- he looks tough and I don’t- but I guess my own looks aren’t so bad. I have light-brown, almost red hair and greenish-gray eyes. I wish they where more gray, because I hate most guys that have green eyes, but I have to be content with what I have.my hair is longer then a lot of boys wear theirs, squared off in the back and long in the front and sides, but I am a greaser and most of my neighborhood rarely brothers to get a haircut. besides, I look better with long hair.” I chose this paragraph because it shows how the author uses very close details. I would rate this book a 6.5 because it was a little confusing in the beginning with all the characters being introduced but I did like how it tough me a life lesson.

sincerely,

Lauren

  1. Dear Lauren,
The book your talking about does seem little confusing with the way you described it, but still interesting to read. I like the paragraph you chose to put in your blog. It really describes one of the characters and his charatistic traits.
