Erin, Where Are You From?

I am from going away to Groton every summer. My cousins and I used to all go up for the month of July. But, as we all get older we are not able to go as much because of other activities. We go on bike rides and go swimming all day long when we are there.

I am from a neighborhood where we would always be active, playing basketball, soccer, or wiffle ball. I was always the youngest person, everyone was at least two years older than me. We would play in my front yard or my cousin’s backyard. We have made so many great memories.

I am from a family that loves animals. We used to have a couple fish, two cats, and a dog. Currently we only have a cat named Oscar and a dog named Ace. We love having pets in the house and watching all the strange things they do.

I am from begging my parents for such a long time to get a dog. My mom always loved dogs because she grew up with a lot but, my dad did not like the idea. Finally after a long time he said “Yes but Molly, John and Erin have to walk and feed Ace everyday.” That doesn’t happen everyday but, it does happen at least three times a week.

I am from being so close with my cousins on my Dad’s side. We are always texting and communicating with each other. We always start counting down even if there’s two months till the next time we see each other. We are all around the same age and love hanging out even if it’s just for a day. When we all get older we still plan to be just as close as we are now.

I’m that Groton-going, neighborhood-playing, pet-loving, dog-begging, and family-loving.

Your poem was great to read. Something that I found new about you is that you have a dog and cat. I never knew that. My favorite part about your poem is when you say ” “Yes but Molly, John and Erin have to walk and feed Ace everyday.” That doesn’t happen everyday but, it does happen at least three times a week.” . I liked this line because if I ever got a dog that is what my dad would say.

  2. Erin,
I enjoyed reading your piece. Something I liked about it was how you told different activities that you do in Groton. In addition I like how you added how since you are getting older and have more activities how you can’t go up to Groton as much. Lastly, the picture you chose because it helped me picture what Groton is like. Good job.
