Olivia, Where Are You From?

I’m from waking up to oatmeal and tea every morning, and occasionally having Coco Puffs because they taste so good. Every morning fighting for the bathroom with my brother because we both need to get ready. “Hurry up Olivia, your hair doesn’t take that long!” He’ll say.

I’m from 3 minute drives to my grandparents house to see my cousins. Where we would eat quickly and then go out to the pond to catch frogs and go canoeing. And Occasionally walking in the field and howling like wolves.

I’m from days at the pool in the summer and getting Dr. Mike’s ice cream after every trip to the pool. And late afternoons spent watching Netflix and facetiming friends.

I’m from going out to dinner with my family and getting salmon. While drinking my shirley temple and having my brother pester me for the cherries. And late night trips to Rite-Aid after dinner to get cartons of Ben and Jerry’s Half Baked.

I’m from taking walks down Johanna’s block and trying to cut through the woods. Loud, crazy movie movie nights with my friends where Michael always chugs half a bottle of soda while we record it. Tons of Surprise parties, water balloon fights, hot-tub times,  and late night man-hunt games.

I’m that coco puff-eating, frog-catching, netflix-watching, Ben and Jerry’s-eating, walk-taking,crazy friends-having girl.

That’s where I’m from.

  1. Olivia,
I really enjoyed reading your piece! I love how you described your friends in different ways. For example, “loud crazy movie nights with friends”,”taking walks down Johanna’s block”,and “Michael always chugs half a bottle of soda.” In future writing I would add some more detail in like, was Michael’s record is, who you go to the pool with etc. I also love how you talked about your grandparents house because I remember going there with you once. Can’t wait to read your next writing piece!
