Samantha, Where Are You From?
Where Are You From, Samantha?
I’m from Sunday dinners with crazy card games, long rounds of Clue, entertaining my family with terrible singing and performances on a nightly basis, and making my sister laugh with random made up stories.
I’m from admiring Victoria, causing trouble and going on adventures with Mac, my parents teaching me how to cook and encouraging me to do my very best.
I’m from cheerleading for 5 years and working my hardest on a nightly basis, listening to my mom tell me “You’ll do fine, don’t worry,” but getting nervous before every performance anyway, and then shedding tears if we do well.
I’m from quick visits to Rhode Island each summer, attempting to boogie board but wind up drowning in big waves, getting upset during a mini golf game every year, finding a weird comfort in staying at the Willows Inn, and kayaking through a mucky lake.
I’m from countless nights of laughing uncontrollably, dancing like nobody’s watching, causing fires from putting bananas in microwaves, getting yelled at for being too loud at 1 in the morning with all of my friends.
I’m that story-making, hard-working, boogie-boarding, fire-causing, trouble-making girl.
That’s where I’m from.
Samantha,
Your poem was fun to read, I really enjoyed it. I liked how you talked about your trips to Rhode Island every summer with your family. I also liked how you used the word “shredding” instead of “crying” because it was more descriptive and made the poem more interesting to read.

Samantha,
I really enjoyed reading your poem. I thought you did a really good job with your
description. I especially liked “I’m from countless nights of laughing uncontrollably, dancing like nobody’s watching, causing fires from putting bananas in microwaves, getting yelled at for being too loud at 1 in the morning with all of my friends.” because I’m always causing trouble with my friends and up all night too.

Samantha,
I liked your poem and specifically liked the stanza about you and your family and what you do from Sunday dinners with crazy card games to making your sister laugh. that told me something that I never knew about you. I also liked how you put in how you go to Rhode Island each summer and the specific place you stayed. I really enjoyed this poem!
