Sarah, Where Are You From?

I’m from the endless summer nights. Hanging out with my crazy/weird friends, laughing and having a great time.

I’m from the days of hanging out with my cousins at my mom’s childhood lake, playing king of the dock and grilling hot dogs and playing very competitive games of SPUD and the countless times I have heard, “You cheated!” or “That hit you. I saw.”

I’m from the countless hours spent at Robert Moses Beach with some of the biggest surf and the best sun tanning for hours on end.

I’m from the sunny days spent at Lake Compounce sliding down the water slides and riding roller coasters from day to night.

I’m from the sunny and windy weekend in May spent riding bikes and shopping around Block Island with some of the coolest people I know.

I’m that laughing, spud-playing, beach-loving, roller coaster-riding, islander.

That’s where I’m from.

  1. Sarah,

I loved your poem and all you said was true. I loved how you discribed us as weird and crazy cause thats true. I mean what will we be without having a crazy frie nds cause without crazy weird friends life would be dull. I also enjoyed the pictures you posted especialy the one with the 3 fingers. You the one in the middle im the one at the left and gabi’s the one on the right. I encourge you to write more of your awesome poems!

  2. Dear Sarah,
I really liked your writing piece. I really liked the pictures that you chose because they connected really well with your descriptions. I also liked the theme of how you wrote about some of the best times you have had. I found this poem very meaningful. my favorite paragraph was when you talked about going to your moms childhood lake and playing games with kids screaming,”You cheated.”
