Sean, Where Are You From?

I’m from watching Mets games on SNY during the pennant race and cheering and yelling for the amazins’. The announcer, Gary Cohen, yells, “and it’s outta here! The Mets take the lead with Daniel Murphy’s eleventh home run of the season!” That’s when I erupt with joy.
I’m from playing two-hand touch football on the street in front of my house with all of the neighborhood kids and my friends. We yell and scream when we score a touchdown.
I’m from spending snowy winters in Vermont, skiing at Okemo Mountain and finding lots of thrilling adventure in the powdery white snow.

I’m from splitting spring time into three sections. One for baseball, one for lacrosse, and one for those boring school days.
I’m from taking long, annual family vacations to Chatham and going into town to eat and, going to see cape league games under the lights and, spending sun-filled days at the beach, relaxing and, swimming.
I’m that Mets game- watching, street football- playing, Vermont-skiing, spring time sports-playing, Cape Cod beach-going kid.
That’s where I’m from.

  1. Good Job Sean, I also like skiing at Okemo and you are right, there are a lot of fun adventures. I also really liked how you described the cape league games under the lights, I could really picture what it looked like. Great Job!

    P.S. GO METS!!!

  3. Sean, your poem was great, the level of detail and dialog you put into that first paragraph was great. I actually felt like I was there with you cheering on the Mets (even though I don’t like them). Good Job!
