Aaron S. Memoir

Having a Ball

I was screaming my head off with excitement. I just caught a game ball from the first baseman of the New York Yankees!!! Even though I had reached over an old lady for it, it was worth it. I couldn’t believe it!

The day is May 5th 2013 and I was with my dad having dinner at Penny’s Diner. We were talking about what we should do for my birthday in less than a week. I told him what I really wanted to do and that was to go to a Yankees game. We both came up with other ideas but they wouldn’t compare to going to Yankee Stadium. We decided we should get some tickets. I asked where we are going to sit but he didn’t tell me. He asked me the three people I wanted to bring and I knew the answer right away. I was going to bring my 3 best friends Evan, Max and Derek.

The day has come and it was a warm Friday morning on May 9th. I couldn’t wait for the day ahead. I would go to school and then afterward I would bring the 3 of them back to my house and then drive to the stadium. We were about to leave in my dad’s car but then suddenly a black limousine pulled up to our driveway and I was so surprised I almost collapsed.

We all jumped into the limousine and it was full of drinks and food. I couldn’t believe what was happening. On our drive over we all had burritos and sodas. The whole way there we played loud music and had a great time. When we got to the stadium, we got out of the limo and thanked the driver. We grabbed the tickets from my dad and ran to our seats. Max had a hard time keeping up but he got there eventually. When we got to the seats, we looked out to the field where the players were warming up. Our seats were right behind the Yankees dugout. The game was between the Yankees and the Athletics. As soon as my dad got to the seats, I thanked him for letting this happen. The game soon started and the Athletics looked like they would pull away with the lead, but the Yankees came back in the 7th. At the end of the 7th inning, on the jumbotron, they showed names of birthdays with messages. We watched it until the last name came up. It was mine. It said Happy Birthday Aaron!! Love Mom, Dad, and Marley. Everyone was like “AWWWWWWW” and I was just sitting there laughing. In that moment I felt like everything had stopped. I looked around and some thousands of people. I smelled the strong scent of hot dogs and fries. I heard cheering. I felt the cold breeze against me. I was stuck in the moment of amazingness. I felt amazing.

After the Yankees pulled off an amazing comeback, we all went back outside the stadium t the limo and had a long ride home. We slept the whole time and I could never forget that day on May 9th 2013.
