Dear Mr. Jockers

I recently finished Harry Potter and the Sourcer’s Stone by: J.K Rowling. This book is 336 pages long and by far the best book I have read in a long time. The author, J.K. Rowling has written all seven Harry Potter books and has sold over 400 million copies in all. J.K. Rowling finished her first book in 1997. One of the main reasons why I decided to read this book was because all my friends were. They were all explaining to me how great of a book it is. This gave me the strength to drop a different book to read Harry Potter. Another reason why I read this book was because I read it in 5th grade and can’t remember anything about it. Right when I started the book, each page was packed with description and detail. Sometimes each page would only describe one thing because the author just kept elaborating on them. As I neared the end of the book I noticed that many of my questions were still not answered which meant J.K Rowling was going to make me read the next book. Finally the book never had any slow or down parts to it. Harry and his friends were either trying to solve something or just getting into trouble.

Harry Potter is not like any other wizard, on the night that his parents were murdered by Lord Voldemort, somehow he did not die when attacked. Both parents knew Harry was a special child and they had to protect him as much as possible. Ten years later Harry is part of the Dursleys’ family and is forced to sleep in the cupboard underneath the stairs.  At Dudley’s birthday at the zoo, the glass disappears and Dudley falls into the cage. Later in the day Harry is punished.

The next day mysterious letters start to appear at the house and Mr. Dudley tries to get rid of them forever. But at one point a mysterious man appears at their house, his name is Hagrid. Hagrid then tells Harry that he is a wizard. He is amazed and the next day they start shopping for school at Hogwarts. A month later Harry catches the train to Hogwarts and now start the problems.

As Harry Potter’s journey at Hogwarts keeps on stirring, on christmas Harry receives his fathers invisibility and puts it to good use. He then finds out about the sourcers’ stone and knows someone at Hogwarts is up to no good. After Harry and his friends find out about the stone, they head down to Hagrid’s village. When they talk to him, they find out that Hagrid has told voldemort, how to get past the 3 headed dog. Later that night they expect that he is trying to sneak in. Now Harry must face his worst fear ever confronting Voldemort.

Throughout the story tension grows between the characters. When Harry gets a detention he must go down to the woods and find out who is killing all the unicorns. As he enters he finds a strange black shadow and knows it is him. He confronts him but voldemort is too weak to attack him.

I rate this book a ten out of ten because this is one of the best books I have ever read. I loved this book so much and I feel the people that have not read this book are missing out. Everyone read this book!!
