Life is a Highway Metaphors

This is the My Life as a Highway music video, made in 1991, is about a man named Tom Cochrane, and he is relating a highway to his everyday life.

Metaphor (20 seconds in) “Life’s like a road that you travel on
When there’s one day here and the next day gone”

Explanation: Tom Cochrane is just relating almost everything to a highway, in this great song. In the lyrics “Life’s like a road that you travel on,When there’s one day here and the next day gone” it is saying that in life, one day you are at a certain place, and then the next day your not there. Just like a highway, one day your at a certain place and the next day your not on the same highway. It just relates to life so well.

  1. I agree, Nicholas. This song was popular the spring of my senior year in high school; I remember it well. And, perhaps not coincidentally, my life has been a bit of a highway since then: speedy at times, stuck in traffic occasionally and, like those in and around New York City, bumpy and full of holes at times as well.
