The COVID-19 Pandemic: Why We Need To Stay Calm…

You’re out for a walk by the park. Suddenly, your phone buzzes. You take out your phone, and you find a news notification. The article says ‘New Virus Surfaces In China…’. You ignore the message, not heeding the warning…

And then, all at once, your world collapses around you… all seemingly without warning…

SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes the disease COVID-19. The virus that has infected 2,500,000+ people, and killed 170,000+, according to the W.H.O.

But COVID-19 isn’t actually that deadly – the virus is simply contagious. So, the virus infects a lot, but kills a little…

29% of cases have had an outcome. 24% of patients have fully recovered, or 84% of the cases with an outcome. 5% of patients have perished, or 16% of the cases with an outcome. 71% of patients are currently infected. 68% of patients are in a mild condition, or 97% of the currently infected patients. 3% of patients are in a severe condition, or 3% of the currently infected patients. This is according to WorldOMeters.

So, please, don’t panic when you’re tested positive for COVID-19 – you’ll be fine.

Also, scientists already know a lot about the virus.

COVID-19 is related to S.A.R.S. and M.E.R.S., which are both types of coronaviruses (‘Coronaviruses’ are a group of, so far, 3 viruses). So, scientists already know a lot about this virus from past info on previous viruses – and are gathering more on this new one.

And a cure is nearly here.

The F.D.A. has already identified 24 drugs for fighting this virus, while the W.H.O. has already started testing on 69 drugs that can fight this virus. Private institutions, meanwhile, have started development of 22 drugs, bred specifically to fight COVID-19. This is according to The New York Times.

So, humans are preparing to fight this virus, and to fight back hard.

And yet, panic is causing widespread shortages of… everything. This increases the stress on people that already have economic problems.

So, please, do not panic buy – purchase things in reasonable amounts.

But, there is a major shortage of medical supplies as hospitals are overwhelmed – and yet, people forget that COVID-19 is not the only medical condition out there – there are other patients, too!

So, please, do not go to the hospital immediately when showing COVID-19 symptoms; just stay at home, with the help of your doctor.

But, the United Nations is providing trillions of dollars of aid to people in need, as factories turn to producing medical supplies to reduce the medical supply gap, and as cures begin testing…

So stay calm… Because help is here, and you’re not alone.

  1. This is great you gave lots of facts and I agree. I liked your percents of the people who get it like how 68% have mild conditions. It is great. I can see you put a lot of work in. If I could recommend one thing it would be to add a little feeling becuase it is a lot of facts without a lot of analizing. But great job.
